Tasmanian botanicals

The wild fragrance of Tasmania

We harvest from native plants that grow and thrive in Tasmania. Like the best wines, the oils extracted from wild Tasmanian plants carry inside them not only their botanical elements, but also aromatic notes drawn from the very soil, climate and clean air that make Tasmania a rare and precious island-gem.

KUNZEA (kunzea ambigua)

Scent notes: fresh, spicy, alpine, medicinal, reminiscent of mountain-eucalyptus and the sweet, woody notes of the cold Tasmanian bush

Growing wild in the north-east of Tasmania, kunzea is a wonder-oil, used by the traditional owners of this land for many thousands of years. It is recognised for its ability to provide temporary relief from arthritis, rheumatism, muscular aches and pains, cold and ‘flu symptoms, insect bites and other skin inflammations, as well as stress and mild anxiety.

We sell kunzea as a pure oil that can be applied directly to the skin as well as in oil diffusers, as a rainwater spritzer for house and body, in nourishing creams, and in massage and spa therapy rooms.

COASTAL TEA TREE (leptospermum laevigatum)

Scent notes: sweet, earthy, woody, citrus, carried on the clear Tasmanian air across wild, coastal windswept rocks

A tall, bushy shrub that grows wild on the pristine, coastal sand-dunes of Flinders Island, coastal tea tree contains compounds that are anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiviral, while also improving respiratory function, and helping to reduce stress.

We sell coastal tea tree as a pure oil that can be applied directly to the skin as well as in oil diffusers, and in massage and spa therapy rooms.

TASMANIAN LAVENDER (lavandula angustifolia)

Scent notes: distinct and beautifully floral, Tasmanian Lavender is immediately recognisable as lavender, yet it carries a unique bouquet that is also warm, sweet, and herbaceous

Our crops are sourced from French lavender, originally brought to Tasmania in the 1900s from the Maritime Alps in Provence. Caressed by our long, languid summers and wild southern winds, and nurtured by horticulturalists at the University of Tasmania, “Tasmanian lavender” is now recognised as a distinctive sub-species, with its own unique properties and aromatic bouquet.

Tasmanian lavender shares the same therapeutic properties as traditional French lavender: it is calming and soothing, antimicrobial, and can help to detoxify and relieve stress.

We sell Tasmanian lavender as a pure oil that can be applied directly to the skin as well as in oil diffusers, as a rainwater spritzer for house and body, in nourishing creams, and in massage and spa therapy rooms.

LAVENDER TEA-TREE (melaleuca ericifolia)

Scent notes: floral, sweet and lavender-like, but with added crisp, nostalgic notes of tea-tree and eucalyptus. Also known as southern roselina.

Our lavender tea-tree oil is harvested wild on Flinders Island, a wild and tiny island-outcrop off the northern coast of Tasmania, in the Bass Strait. Lavender tea-tree is not a blend, but a true species, which combines the soothing and relaxing properties of lavender with the cleansing and antibacterial properties of tea tree.

We sell lavender tea-tree as a pure oil that can be applied directly to the skin as well as in oil diffusers, as a rainwater spritzer for house and body, in nourishing creams, and in massage and spa therapy rooms.

TASMANIAN BLUE GUM (eucalyptus globulus)

Scent notes: sharp, fresh, quintessentially eucalyptus

Tasmanian blue gum is the floral emblem of Tasmania, and its unique essential oil is distilled from wild-harvested trees growing in Tasmania’s pristine forests.

The blue gum eucalyptus oil is antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory. It is well known for its effects as a decongestant for upper-respiratory and inflammatory infections such as bronchitis, as a topical ointment for to soothe tired muscles and ease skin problems, to ease fevers and headaches, and as a therapeutic complement to antibiotics.

We sell Tasmanian blue gum as a pure oil that can be applied directly to the skin as well as in oil diffusers, as a rainwater spritzer for house and body, in nourishing creams, and in massage and spa therapy rooms.

MANUKA (leptospermum scoparium)

Scent notes: herbaceous, spicy and fresh

The manuka tree is native to Australia and New Zealand and, while best known for the healing honey created from its flowers, the leaves and twigs are harvested from the wild and steam-distilled to create essential oil with a distinct and special fragrance, and abundant therapeutic properties.

The oil has long been used for its cleansing, antibacterial and healing properties, helping with natural respiration, coughs and cold symptoms, to relieve soreness and inflammation, to treat cuts and burns, and to treat acne, scarring and uneven skin pigmentations.

We sell manuka as a pure oil that can be applied directly to the skin as well as in oil diffusers, as a rainwater spritzer for house and body, in nourishing creams, and in massage and spa therapy rooms.
